We’re delighted to have completed a flooring makeover for a privately-owned specialist dementia care home in the Upperthorpe area of Sheffield.

The Leahyrst Care Home is owned and run by Silver Health and provides accommodation for those aged over 65 who require nursing or personal care or who have dementia or mental health conditions.

The old carpet in a corridor before it was uplifted

“We were approached by the owners to provide a quotation for the uplift and replacement of the existing carpets from the corridors and lounge areas on the ground, first and second floors of the care home,” explains Damian Bradley, director and project manager for A Cumberlidge.

Continues Damian: “We recommended the use of Altro adhesive-free, timber effect sheet vinyl because it facilitated the least disruption to staff and residents and allowed us to cut down on installation time. We also replaced the old carpet on two staircases, one at the front and one at the rear of the building using JHS (Joseph Hamilton Seaton) Universal Heathers carpet in colour Blossom.

The new Altro adhesive-free, timber effect sheet vinyl looks great in the communal area and is totally fit for purpose

“In total we removed 360m2 of existing adhered carpet and supplied and laid Altro adhesive-free sheet vinyl, 100m2 of JHS Universal Heathers carpet along with 77m of aluminium nosings.”

Commenting on the flooring project, Leroy Young from Silver Health said: “From the first time we dealt with Damian on the initial project at Rosebank Care Home, the quality of the service has been first class, very professional, extremely helpful and competitive. This gave us the confidence to choose Cumberlidge for major flooring upgrades at Leahyrst Care Home.

“The fitters throughout the job have been conscientious, respectful as well as clean and tidy, we’ve had no problems whatsoever, well done lads!. We’re really happy with the works and will continue to work with Damian and his team.”
