Further adding to our extensive portfolio of healthcare projects, we have transformed a busy X-Ray corridor at Rotherham District General Hospital with the installation of brand new flooring throughout.

Working for main contractor Wright Electrical, the team at A Cumberlidge had to first of all plan exactly when they would be able to access the corridor. As an area of the hospital that is used at all times, it must be open for potential emergencies 365 days a year.

Explains Andrew Reeves, managing director at A Cumberlidge: “We know that hospitals are extremely busy places. So, whenever we deliver a project in this industry, it is vital that we liaise with the main contractor and estates manager to ensure there are several plans in place to cover all eventualities and ensure that we are able to complete the project within a certain timeframe.

“Following several site visits and meetings we established that evenings, from 8.30pm, were the best times to work on the corridor. Over a number of different evenings during the week and weekends, we stripped various sections of the corridor’s floor, prepared the surface and then laid 120 square metres of Polyflor Forest FX vinyl.”

Concludes Andrew: “We used rapid latex on half the corridor to facilitate entry into several areas that staff needed to access to 24 hours a day. This enabled the hospital to continue to deliver excellent levels of patient care and saw that the work was carried out with minimum disruption.”
