Over the 2019 festive period, the A Cumberlidge team delivered another first-class educational floor restoration, this time for students and staff at Astrea Woodfields Academy in Doncaster.

One of 27 schools that make up the Astrea Academy Trust, Astrea Woodfields is a busy academic establishment and its main hall was in line for improvement following several years of heavy footfall.

“School halls are used on a daily basis, and not only during term time,” explains Tim Vaughan, director at A Cumberlidge. “Astrea Woodfields Academy is no exception and the herringbone solid wood block floor in the 320m2 hall was in need of restoration.”

The beautiful herringbone wood block floor was in need of restoration

Continues Tim: “Following an initial site visit to discuss specific requirements, the team began work on site on 23rd December while the school was closed for Christmas.

“The first part of the project was to fully clean and prepare the floor ready for sanding using numerous grades of paper. Once the entire area had been sanded and cleaned again, we applied three separate coats of Treatex Hardwax Oil, allowing each coat to dry overnight between applications.”

Restored to its former glory!

Concludes Tim: “The finished result speaks for itself – it looks like a brand new floor again!”
